Minister Abron
Austin Jr.
December 25, 1941 – May 31, 2021
The Life of Minster Abron Austin, Jr.
Min. Abron Austin, Jr. was born in a small community of Lockesburg, Arkansas called Oak Grove on December 25, 1941. He is the second born son of Abron Austin, Sr. and Mable Austin. He was a healthy child at birth, but soon after he became ill with epilepsy. Being in a small African American country community, the family did not have the resources nor did they know of others who might be able to get help for their son, medically or with a proper education. But through continuous prayer and by God's grace, he is truly blessed. Where did he get his name Jerrel? It is a long story; so, let's just say he was Robert Jerrel Austin until he had to get his Birth Certificate when he got married.
His parents loved him dearly and so did all of his family, including the small community. His parents taught him as much as they could and best of all, his parents put him in God's hand. Giving him to God was the best thing in the world for him, because he has always been taught that God loved him, that everyone loved him and that he could be somebody, no matter what. Min. Abron took this to heart and has always been inspired to do his best. He loves everybody and will speak to every person in the world, whether they respond or not. His famous favorite phrase is "I might get tired, but I'm not giving up. God is Good." With that in mind, he was on his way. He worked for 24 years for Goodwill Industries in Little Rock, Arkansas. And after a few years living in Little Rock, Min. Abron joined a church close to home, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Rev. Jackson was Pastor. He could walk to church and he did so most of the time. Then one day, Min. Abron came home and told his mother and grandmother Rose Johnson, that the Lord had called him to preach. Of course, they were skeptical, but after much discussion about his being called, Min. Abron convinced them that he knew what he was talking about. Rev. Jackson took him under his wing, anointed him, and again, with love, prayer and a commitment to God to help him in every way possible. Min. Abron was ordained at Mt. Olive. Even after Rev. Jackson passed on, Rev. Norman and the church loved Min. Abron and took care of him throughout. Even after he left Little Rock, they continued to send him videos of the church services.
Min. Abron stayed at Mt. Olive until his sister, Pinkie, moved his Parents and him to Kansas City, Missouri in July 2001. Pinkie was reluctant to move him because she knew how much his Church loved him and was not sure if that kind of compassion would continue elsewhere. He joined the Peace Baptist Church, Pastor Ethel Smith in KCMO where he again Worshipped and Praised the Lord. He is a strong believer in God and what God has done and will do for him. That is his testimony. He suffered from his affliction for most of his life, but he did not let that stop him from serving his God. In September 2009 the family moved to Arlington, Texas. There he served as a Minister at the New Greater Memorial Family Church, Rev. Kelly W. Austin, Pastor in DeSoto, TX. Again, so much love is shown toward him. We thank God for that. He was a Blessed Child and Minister sent from God. He praises God from his heart and he is an inspiration to those who know what he has been through and how far God has brought him.
Abron Jr. leaves to cherish his memories: Marion Walls, Melvin Austin (Claryce), and Pinkie Mason. All of his nephews and nieces and their children. By the way, he had SPECIAL NAMES for all of them (SMILE). Many other Relatives, Special Friends, and just those who loved him throughout the United States of America--certainly too many to name. Your Love and Prayers are appreciated.
Also, thanks to Multi-Care Home Health, Ms. Lovera Rushing for her special care of him the past ten years; and The Heart To Heart Hospice for your care of him in his final time here on earth.
