Obituary

Michael "Maine" Lewis, 61, of Dallas, Texas went on to eternal rest on October 2, 2021. He was born on May 20, 1960 to Dimple Jerkins and Elmer McMurray in Tunis, Texas.

Maine attended Snook High School. Shortly after high school, Maine left Tunis and went on to reside in Dallas, Texas for a short time and later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He returned to Dallas in 2015, which would be his final resting place. Early on Maine grew an interest for computers and information technology. He was a man of many skills. In his spare time he enjoyed cooking and making his infamous homemade BBQ sauce and macaroni and cheese. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family. Family was not just important to him, it was everything. Even so, he gave everyone their own special nick-names, from the children to elders. He had always been the life of the party with a heart as big as Texas. He had a kind and loving spirit and would often go above and beyond for those he knew and loved. He loved his family and told us every chance he got with that great big smile and warm affectionate hug. His energy could fill up a room, and his love for everyone was immeasurable. It will be very difficult to fill the shoes of someone like Michael "Maine" Lewis. He has set the bar for the generations to come. It will be all of our responsibility to continue pushing his legacy forward.

He leaves to cherish his memory, beloved children Christopher Ginyard, Lamesia Thomas, and Terrell Thomas; grandchildren Jo'Ann Ginyard, Jordan Ginyard, Chris Ginyard, Jahliah Ginyard, and Aaryn Rawls; mother Dimple Jerkins and step-father Jessie Jerkins; siblings Annie Isom, Edna Thompson (Lavon), Brenda Wilson, Linda Ridley, Karen McMurray, Eleanor Brown, and Marylin Warren, Daryl Lewis (Aleshia), Brandon Williams (Vivian), and Elder Stanley McMurray. Along with life-long friends Betty Dales and Brenda Martin. As well as Terry Lewis Sr., Reginald Lewis, and Charles Lewis (cousins much like brothers). He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by father Elmer McMurray, son Justin Lewis, and sister Delores Evans.
