Michael Henry Morris, also known as "Big Mike," was respected and cherished by many. He lived his life as an ambassador for Christ. He was the son of the late Cleo H. Morris and Jackson Morris Sr. He was born on July 13,1954 in Dallas, Texas. He entered into eternal rest on October 25, 2023.He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Munger Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Rowe. He attended DISD and was a proud graduate of South Oak Cliff High School in 1972. Michael was a true Golden Bear and a dedicated alumnus. 1972 was an exciting year for Michael; he was blessed with the birth of his only child, Michael Delaneyo Morris, and enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served until 1974. Michael, while in the Navy, specialized in communication and technology. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Michael entered the civilian work industry with the skills and knowledge from the Navy and gained employment with Southwestern Bell, where he was employed for several years. Michael, with his aspiration to help others, later enrolled at Eastfield College, where he received his certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. It was a passion to serve and help men and women who suffered from addiction issues. Everyone who came in contact with Michael knew he loved his family and would do anything for them!
Michael enjoyed music, concerts, and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He was an uncle /Dad to all his nieces and nephews. Michael loved to snack on the sweets that he didn't always need! Michael enjoyed the time and energy he could devote to the prison ministry while working with others and sharing how he loved the Lord. Michael rededicated his life to Christ and joined Concord Baptist Church under the Pastoral care of Rev. Byran Carter. He was a "PROUD ACTIVE" member of Concord, and he loved his church. He was an active participant in the Male Chorus, Prison Ministry and volunteer working in the Food Pantry. Michael would invite others to celebrate the Lord with him on Sunday, and when anyone out of the thousands of invites he shared actually showed up, it would make his day! Michael not only served his country, but he also served the Lord unconditionally.
Michael is preceded in his death by his mother, Cleo H. Morris; his father, Jackson Morris Sr.; his son, Michael D. Morris; his sister, Mary L. Thomas; and his brothers, Jackson Morris Jr. and Henry J. Young.
