Melvin Lee Baker was born on September 17,1948 in Fort Worth, Texas to the parentage of Curtis Mae and Edward Arlington Baker.

He attended Fort Worth public schools and graduated from Dunbar High School in1966. He attended North Texas State University and was a   member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

On November 13,1971 he married the love of his life Mary Mathis

In August of 1971 he joined the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. Here remained there until his retirement on March 7, 2007.

On November 26,1976 their son, Ryan Curtis was born. Melvin was a remarkable husband and father. He was dedicated to his family and his
profession.

He and Mary made their home in Dallas, Texas and remained married for 52 years.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward Arlington Baker, and his mother Curtis Mae Aikins. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife,
Mary Baker, their son, Ryan Curtis Baker, a host of relatives and friends.

He will be deeply missed and will remain in our Hearts Forever.
