Mattie Henderson Scott was in Junction City, Arkansas to the parents of the
late Mr. Frank Henderson, Sr. and Mrs. Donnie Lee Henderson. She was
peacefully called to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
Mattie accepted Christ at an early age and united with the China Grove
Missionary Baptist Church in Grambling, Louisiana. While at China Grove she
was active in the Sunshine Band, the Red Circle and the Choir. After moving
to Dallas, Texas, she became a member of the Southern Crest Full Gospel
Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frank Henderson, Jr.
Mattie received her education in Ruston, Louisiana and later attended Nursing
School in Dallas, Texas. Her career path led her to working with children
as a school nurse and as a Home Health Care worker attending to senior
citizens and others. She was an active and devoted member of the National
Association of Lincolnites, Dallas Chapter, where she served as president for
many years.
In 1968, Mattie was united in holy matrimony with the late Elma Scott. They
shared a beautiful life for 50 years. They were blessed with one son and one
daughter. The heart of Mattie was her family, although, she loved watching
"football".
Mattie is preceded in death by her husband, Elma Scott, father, Mr. Frank
Henderson, Sr., mother, Mrs. Donnie Henderson, sister, Hattie Simmons and
brother, Clyde Henderson.
Her loving memories will be cherished by her son, Kevin Scott, daughter,
Sonja Fields, granddaughter, Ashli McDowell (Kennord), four sisters Bobbie
Currie (Elvin), Gloria Massey, Ernestine Vasher and Mary Rivers (Willie), two
brothers, Frank Henderson, Jr. (Dorothy) and Jerry Henderson (Mary), and
numerous nieces, nephews and extended family as well as devoted friends
