Obituary

Mary Ellen Holmes 77, passed away Thursday November 19, 2020 and was commended into
the arms of her loving Savior Jesus Christ. Born Mary Ellen Hill on December 2, 1942 in Clarksville, Texas. She enjoyed a fun filled
childhood while growing up in Annona, Texas, where she enjoyed fishing and gardening.
She united with the Rock of Ages Baptist Church at a young age.

She graduated from Cheatham High School in 1962 where she excelled on the girl's basketball
team. She soon after married the love of her life, Melvin "Bud" Dillard. Unto this union 4
beautiful daughters were born.

She worked for over 30 years at the Clarksville Nursing Center before retiring to spend more
time with family. She was known for the extra care that she provided for her patients. She took
great pride in her job.

Mary was an ever present supporter and cheerleader at her daughter's athletic competitions.
An avid Lakers fan, she loved Kobe Bryant.

She always made sure her family and friends in the Annona community were cared for.
Constantly checking up on those who were sick or just dropping by with food and conversation
to brighten the day of those she loved.

She served as a FAITHFUL usher at Rock of Ages Baptist Church for many years. Always
greeting everyone with a cheerful and welcoming smile. She possessed a magical combination of strength and beauty. If she met you once you were touched in a special way. Her love knew no bounds and she shared it with young and old alike.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Beal Dillard, parents: Gloria Hubbard and
Roscoe Hill, brothers: Joe Frank Hill and Roscoe "Cody" Hill, sister; Carmen Hill, daughter: Felecia Gail Dillard.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy 3 daughters: Greta
(James) Ellis, San Antonio, Tx., Yolanda Dillard, Grand Prairie, Tx., Chastity Dillard, Dallas, Tx.
6 grandchildren: LaShonnette Meischelle Dillard, LaTreka "Alex" Dillard, ShaNequa Dillard,
Christopher Dillard, Jared Ellis and Jerell Ellis, 3 brothers: Joe Nathan Hill, Johnny Hill and
Elston Hill, 3 sisters: Shirlon Hill Shelby, Mona Raye Hill and Bernadette Breaux, Nephew: Joe
Franklin Hill, special family friend, Mary Ann Jackson and a host of other family and friends.


Visitation on Friday November 27,2020 will be held from 3-8pm at Evergreen Funeral Home,
6449 University Hills Blvd. Dallas, TX.
2nd visitation will be held Saturday November 28,2020 from 11-1pm at Rock of Ages Baptist
Church, FM 44 Annona Tx. 75550.
Graveside services will be held Saturday November 28, 2020 at the Annona Cemetery.
Condolences may be made to the family at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home.
