Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Armstrong-Cofer peacefully answered the call of the Lord on April 13, 2026, transitioning from labor to eternal rest. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy woven together by faith, love, strength, and unwavering grace.

Born on June 22, 1941, Mary was the 12th child of 15 children born to Charlie and Mary Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charlie and Mary Armstrong; her children, Angelee Nance, Anthony Armstrong, and Keith Wade Cofer; and her siblings, Daisy Justice, Dessie Taylor, Leatha Burts, Josephine James, Inell Williams, Dorothy Thomas, Georgia Robertson, Corine Morrison, Callie Lloyd, Charlie Mae Armstrong, Virginia Armstrong, Bobby Armstrong, Ned Armstrong Sr., and Jimmy Armstrong.

Mary received her education through the Hill County school system, where she developed a strong foundation that she carried with her throughout life. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that would guide her steps, shape her character, and shine through in the way she loved and served others.

Mary was a devoted wife to her beloved late husband, Joe Elmer Cofer, and a nurturing, loving mother whose care extended far beyond her own children.

Throughout her life, Mary served others with humility and compassion. As a housekeeper and nanny, she gave not only her hands but her heart. She faithfully served families including the Butlers, the Snyders, and the Futrells, who grew to love her deeply over the many years she cared for their homes and families. Her presence brought comfort, consistency, and genuine love, leaving lasting impressions that will never be forgotten.

A faithful servant of God, she was a dedicated deaconess and choir member at Greater Mt. Pilgrim, where her love for gospel music reflected the joy and depth of her faith.

Mary will be fondly remembered for her radiant spirit, her timeless elegance as a true fashionista, and her signature phrase, “Clock it,” which brought smiles and laughter to those around her. Her presence was a light—warm, bold, and unforgettable.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her son, Kelvin (Janice) Cofer; her step-sons, Tommy (Robin) Cofer, Jessie Cofer, and Louis (Sharon) Cofer; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will carry her love in their hearts forever.

Though she has entered into eternal rest, her spirit lives on in every life she touched. Well done, thy good and faithful servant.
