Marvin Williams was born on December 3, 1948, in Dallas to Roy Lenzie Williams and Ollie Miller. When he was just 18 years of age, Marvin was drafted into the Army to serve in the Vietnam War. Following the war, he was stationed at Wildflecken and Schweinfurt, Germany. He would go on to serve for the next 26 years alongside some of his closest lifelong friends – Willy Darden and Murphy.
During his time in Germany, he met and fell for Hulya Taskin, who he soon married in 1977. Together they traveled the world with their one and only child, Cecilia Williams.
Marvin highly regarded both traditional education as well as education through experience. So after retiring from the Army, Marvin went on to earn 2 bachelor's degrees and 1 master's degree. He earned the Summe Cum Laude distinction for all 3 degrees. Throughout all of Marvin's accolades and high commendations, his most proud and prized achievement in life was being a Father and Grandfather!
MSG Marvin Williams, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughter on December 5, 2021. He was a highly decorated veteran, earning the Bronze Star Medal. Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
