Obituary

Marvin Earl Hill was born on February 16, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, to Roberta Hill and the late Aquilla Hill.

Marvin was a proud graduate of Skyline High School, Class of 1973. Shortly after graduation, he began training as a machinist with Texas Instruments before answering the call to serve his country. Marvin enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from 1974 to 1976 as a Combat Engineer stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

After completing his military service, Marvin returned home and resumed his career at Texas Instruments. Driven by a desire for continued growth, he pursued higher education and earned an associate degree in Architecture from Mountain View College. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, Marvin remained committed to his career through the company's transition to Raytheon, ultimately retiring in 2022 after an incredible 48 years of service.

Marvin's Christian foundation was established early in life at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He later continued his spiritual journey at St. Luke "Community" United Methodist Church in Dallas and One Community Church in Plano. Guided by his faith in Jesus Christ, Marvin lived by the words, "We are blessed to be a blessing," a principle reflected in his kindness, generosity, and the way he treated others.

Marvin found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved hosting gatherings, smoking a fine cigar, bowling, taking casino trips, traveling, and staying up to date with his favorite shows, Survivor and The Amazing Race. He especially enjoyed listening to jazz music, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending meaningful time with family. He also treasured his walks with his beloved dog, Ace.

An avid golfer, Marvin found peace and closeness to God on the green. He played faithfully every Wednesday, never missing a tee time, and earned numerous first-place trophies in tournaments alongside his dear friends. The golf course was one of his favorite places, where he embraced both nature and fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his father, Aquilla Hill, and grandparents, Walter and Mary Hill, and Frank and Ester Williams.

Marvin was the proud father of two daughters, Amber Denise and Tonya Rashel and the proud husband to his beloved wife, Kendra Lowery. Together, they formed a loving blended family that included bonus sons, Robert Matthew, Diautri Lowery, and Dakari Lowery, along with his cherished grandson, Laderron Lowery. Marvin also leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Roberta Hill; sisters, Debborah Hill, Sandra McMillian (Donald), and Aquilla "Tweet" Hill; uncle, Frank Williams; aunt, Mable Gent; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who loved him dearly and will miss him deeply.
