A beloved wife and mother, Martha Carroll Washington 81, passed away Friday March 19, 2021 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas Texas. Martha was born on June 27, 1939 in Farmerville, Louisiana. She married Jimmie Dale Washington on June 23, 1957 in Marion, Louisiana. After starting their family, they moved to Dallas Texas.
Martha and Jimmie had four children: Jimmye Carolyn, LaDeirdre called DeDe, Tracye Michelle, and Michael Charles Sr. called Miguel. Martha worked at Stanley Hilton Hotel, Lerner's Department and Simmons Mattress Company.
She retired from the corporate world in 1970 to become a stay home wife/mother for her family, where she ministered and instill values, principles of appreciation of good education, hard work and Godly characteristics.
Martha attended Union High School where she was a cheerleader and a Majorette. Martha loved to dance and loved fashion, but Martha' biggest love was her family.
Martha believed in Jesus and lived His word. She and her family joined Peniel Baptist Church in 1972 and then became a member of Greater Memorial Baptist Church 1979 where she remained a member until her death.
Martha was preceded by her husband Jimmie Dale who died February 2, 2019 and is survived by her four children: Jimmye Carolyn, LaDeirdre, Tracye Michelle, and Michael Charles; five grandchildren, Michael II , Christopher, and Marquis Washington, Anthony X., Marques J. Boyd and Briana Woods; four great-grandchildren; Angel Washington, Jalen P. Woods, Anarra and Aleiah Boyd; seven sisters, Alice, Betty, Lizette, LaVerne, Juanita, Carolyn and Octavia; three brothers, Breard Jr., Joe Willie and Jerome; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
