Obituary

Margie Yvonne McCoin was born October 03, 1945, in Altus, OK, to Dollie and Fletcher McCoin, who preceded her in death.  Early in the morning of February 15th, she peacefully passed and went to her heavenly home.

She declared her faith in Christ at a young age. She joined The Inspiring Body of Christ Church in 1993, where she was a faithful member until her passing.  She served in the auxiliary of the OK Fellowship and the Children's Summer Camp. A woman of steadfast faith, she took great joy in her Christian walk.  In 1998, she chose to reaffirm her commitment to God through re-baptisms, a moment that served as a cornerstone of her spiritual life.

She attended Douglas High School and graduated in 1963.  She then attended Langston University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1968.

A dedicated professional, Margie spent over 20 years in the healthcare field as an EEG Technician.  Her career of service spanned across Wyngate, New Mexico, and Garland, Texas, where she was known for her technical skill and her compassionate care for her patients.

As her love for education grew, she transitioned into the classroom, serving as a long-term educator in elementary academics with the Dallas Independent School District. Later in life, she transitioned into a new chapter at Mountain View Community College, where she served as a lab assistant in the Biology Department.  She found a deep passion for this work, thriving in the academic environment and sharing her love for science with students and faculty alike. Whether she was assisting in the lab or guiding young students, Margie's heart for mentorship and her devotion to learning left a lasting legacy on the lives she touched.

Her proudest legacy began in 1971 with the birth of her only daughter, Dr. Vikki McCoin.  They were the loves of each other's lives, partners in travel, constant companions, and best friends.  Vikki's success and passion as a professional educator stand as a testament to her mother's influence, continuing a proud family tradition of excellence in education.

Margie was a loving person who loved to dance, eat plenty of desserts, and spend time with family and friends. She had a vibrant personality and was always happy. She was a selfless person who would do anything to help anyone.  She was open and honest about life, and she valued the bonds she shared with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolly and Fletcher McCoin, her sisters Variece Franklin, Fletcher Mae Blackwell, and Francine Island. Margie leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: one loving daughter, Dr. Vikki L. McCoin, one brother, Albert G. McCoin of DeSoto, Texas, one Goddaughter Ivette Valadez-Jimenez (Jaime) of Dallas, Texas, one bonus grandchild, Gracie Reyna of Henderson, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends
