Obituary

Mamie Olivia Williams, affectionately called MOE, was the beloved eldest daughter of the late Clarice Snow Howard and Charles Theodore Williams, Sr. She was born on September 8, 1943 in Dallas, Texas.

Mamie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Warren United Methodist Church. She later became a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G.B. Prince.

She received her formal education in the Dallas Independent School District and graduated in 1961 from James Madison High School. She later attended Bishop College as a Pre-Med major.

Mamie married the love of her life, Bernard B. Edwards on October 15, 1961 and from this union, 4 children were born.

Mamie was employed by Lone Star Gas Company. She continued her career with Dallas, Power & Light (DP&L) and became one of the marketing faces for the DP&L/TXU's safety campaigns where she toured elementary schools to promote safety awareness for children. She retired from TXU and later continued to work as a contracted speaker for energy reform.

Mamie was preceded in death by both parents, and 3 brothers (Larry Douglas Carver, Herbert Leon and Arnold Gene Williams). Mamie leaves to cherish her legacy and memory: her husband of 56 years, Bernard Bertrand Edwards; sons, Vincent Bernard Edwards, Mark Anthony Edwards (Mia), Dyonne Charise Collins (Antonio), and Natilie Dean Hubert (Kelly). Other survivors include brothers; Charles Theodore Williams Jr., Lester Ray Williams (Harnell), Michael Lynn Williams, Nathaniel Von Williams, and sisters, Doris Jean Smith, Cynthia Ann Salter (Lovis) and Dona Christina Lawrence. Mamie also leaves 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of other cherished family members and friends.
