Lynn Carol Bowen- 01/14/1951 to 08/31/2026 age 75
Lynn Carol Bowen, known for her warm encouraging hugs and inviting smile, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at the age of 75, in Lancaster CA. Lynn was born in Atoka, OK on January 14, 1951. Her family later moved to McKinney, TX in 1958, where she developed a passion for food service which extended to her managing a bakery and ultimately owning a catering business in Dallas, TX. Lynn moved from full-time food service to education where she served in the Dallas Independent School District as a teacher’s assistant to special needs students at Oliver Wendel Holmes Middle School in Dallas, TX for 19 years. While the set curriculum served to limit the potential of the students, Lynn and her co-teacher went above and beyond their mandate and taught the children to read, write and count money which enriched the lives of hundreds of students during her tenure.
Sister Lynn, as she was affectionately known by her church family, was a long-standing member of Abundant Life A.M.E. Church in Dallas where she served as Stewardess President, a member of the OASIS Choir, OASIS Ministry Leader, Leader of the Culinary Ministry, and as a mentor to young women as the Founder of the Daughters of Lydia and Hyacinth Ministries. She also served as an Annual Conference Delegate, and as a Joy in the Morning Prayer Day Leader. Sister Lynn found great joy in seeing countless children that she once rocked as babies, become grown-ups with families of their own.
She was a devoted mother to her only son, Arnold and his family. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with them and traveling around the country with them on family vacations. Her unparalleled fashion sense was on display on each trip as she showcased many of the outfits she, as an accomplished seamstress, had customized.
Lynn was the eldest of her siblings. She was their caretaker early on and transitioned to their friend and confidant as they grew older. She was known as a surrogate mother to many people and an aunt to many others. Her multi-faceted life was a testament to perseverance, overcoming, and a dedication to truth, love and her faith in God.
Lynn is preceded in glory by her mother Lola Mae Fields, father Clyde Bowen, stepfather Rucell Fields, brother Anthony L. “Bubba” Bowen, and her sister Karen J. “Judy” Bowen.
Lynn is survived by her son, Arnold H. Bowen (wife, Katherine C. “K.C.” Bowen), granddaughter, Nyejha T. Bowen, her grandson, Arric J. Bowen, her sisters, Rita V. Bowen and Treasa F. Fields, her brothers, Artis B. Bowen, Kevin R. Fields and Otis E. Fields, her aunt, Stella Williams and cousin, Norma Williams, and a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
