Linda Sue
Spivey
October 26, 1948 – September 1, 2024
Linda Sue Spivey, born on October 26, 1948, in Oklahoma City, OK, to James Littleton and Louisa Mae Littleton, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on September 1, 2024, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, TX, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Linda was a proud graduate of Douglas High School in Oklahoma City, class of 1966. Shortly after graduation, she married Isaac Evans Orlando Kimbro III in September 1966. Isaac enlisted in the United States Air Force which took them to Lubbock, TX, where Linda became a devoted mother to their two daughters, Bridgette Marie Kimbro (born March 27, 1967) and Yolanda Carol Kimbro (nicknamed "Nunie," born June 16, 1968).
In December 1969, the family moved to Bentwaters, England where Isaac was stationed. There, Linda and Isaac embraced new educational opportunities, earning certificates in Computer Science in 1972. Linda was one of 12 students out of 35 to graduate from her class, mastering programming in five languages. Their son, Isaac Evans Orlando Kimbro IV, was born in Lakenheath, England, on March 28, 1973.
After returning to Oklahoma City in 1973, Linda and Isaac purchased their first home, but their marriage ended in divorce in 1975. Linda later welcomed a daughter, Latrisha Lynn Hill, born May 20, 1980, with Otis Albert Hill. In July 1992, she married James David Spivey, though they later divorced in August 1995.
Linda worked for Mistletoe Express in Oklahoma City followed by Bunte Candy. Linda's career spanned over 25 years with the State of Oklahoma, where she began at the Office of Personnel Management as a Data Entry Clerk. She later transferred to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation's IT Helpdesk. She retired in July of 2011 from the State of Oklahoma and subsequently moved to Desoto, TX, to be closer to her children. After moving, she joined her daughters as a member of Concord Church in Dallas, TX.
A talented seamstress and interior decorator, Linda also enjoyed singing and was a backup singer in Isaac's band alongside her sister Viola. Her love for music continued in church choirs at Ebenezer Baptist Church and St. John Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. In her later years, Linda found joy in working on jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and assisting her daughters with various DIY projects.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Bridgette Marie Kimbro, Yolanda Burgess, and Latrisha Lynn Irabor, as well as her son, Isaac Evans Orlando Kimbro IV, whom she raised as children of God. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jasmine Shamiah Nicole Buchanan, Brittney Marie Orr, Adriana Price, Tashae Aaliyah Kimbro, Reginald Van Orr, Jr. "RJ", Ryan V. Orr, Cori Amaya Irvin-Williamson, Camryn Alaina Irvin-Williamson, and Elijah Osato Irabor "EJ"; great-grandchildren, Kaydence Marie Buchanan, Rosalina Aria Orr, and Lucas Van Anthony Orr; one beloved sister, Iola Mae Hurte, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Linda's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her. May her soul rest in peace.
