Obituary

Today, we celebrate the beautiful and vibrant life of Linda Jewel Scott a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. Linda was born on May 12, 1950, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to the late Fairy Taylor Carter and the late Jake Taylor.

Linda graduated from Nacogdoches High School. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and committed herself to living a life that was pleasing to Him. Linda's beauty, strength, candor, enthusiasm, and love for people were among the many qualities that defined her life and touched everyone who knew her.

After moving to Dallas, Texas, Linda continued to build a life rooted in faith, purpose, and family. She pursued her education at El Centro College, earning her LVN certification. Her faith remained central throughout her life. Linda became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Moses Reagans, and later joined Full Gospel Holy Temple and The Potter's House of Dallas, where she could often be found praising God with her tambourine. Linda never met a stranger she could talk to anyone, and she never hesitated to speak about the two great loves of her life: her Lord and her family.

Linda was a woman of passion and grace, known for her kind heart and tough, unwavering love for those she held close. She had a special gift for uplifting others offering encouragement, compassion, and strength to everyone she encountered. Her laughter was contagious, her presence was comforting, and her love was unconditional. Family meant everything to Linda. She held high expectations for her children and believed in being the best version of yourself. She took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply being present, Linda's love remained a constant source of reassurance and support.

Linda Jewel Scott's legacy is one of love, resilience, and faith. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit, love, and legacy will live on through the many lives she impacted. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Fairy Taylor Carter and Jake Taylor; her son, Derrick LaJohn Scott; her grandson, Desmine De'Mon Scott; three uncles; and one aunt.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, John L. Scott; one son, Secdockery Taylor (Dallas); four daughters, LaQuietta Taylor (Dallas), Phaylisha Harris (Dallas), Rolaunda Scott-Garner (Dallas), and Jacquelyn Scott (Dallas); two brothers, Marvin Taylor (California) and Jake Taylor (Sabra); eleven grandchildren LaShazzel Holmes (Senek Holmes), James Alvin Armstrong III, LaKoshia Bell, Julissa Harris, Erquawn Bell, Kevin Harris, Queadrin Johnson, Jasmine Scott-Paris, Yasmine Scott, Dazmon Scott, and Jazmon Scott-Hurst; 26 great-grandchildren; extended family members; and a host of dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
