Lillie Mae Moore was born August 31, 1923 in Naples, Texas to Dave Craig and Fannie Mae Agent-Craig. Mrs. Lillie Mae Moore met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Sunday morning, December 17, 2017, as she lay peacefully in bed. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She attended Southern Methodist University, where she received her Associates of Arts Degree in instrumental music. She also attended Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, Bishop College Extension School, and Phillips Business School in Dallas, Texas. Lillie Moore received her Beautician's License from the Madam Walker's Beauty School. She was employed with the Dallas Independent School District for 25 years as a music teacher and paraprofessional. She retired in 1988 to pursue other endeavors, including volunteering at the Salvation Army Center as the music director and ceramic art instructor. Lillie Mae Moore accepted Jesus Christ at a young age, and had a passion for music. She was the pianist and organist for various churches for over 50 years, including True Light Baptist Church, Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church, Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Church of the Living God, St. John Primitive Baptist Church, Denley Drive Baptist Church, Cedar Crest Community Center, and Chapel Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Additionally, she gave private music lessons to aspiring pianist in her home for many years, and was an exceptional seamstress. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord, playing the piano, creating ceramic art, and loving her sons, daughter, and grandchildren.
Mrs. Lillie Mae Moore united in marriage to Mr. James C. Moore, Sr., January 27, 1955. From this union five sons were born. She is preceded in death by son, Claudis Hill, Jr. and daughter, Bettye Jean Hill, from a previous marriage; Parents: Dave Craig and Fannie Mae Williams; Sister: Johnnie Mae Stephens.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Sons, James C. Moore, Jr. (Valorie), Gerald C. Moore, Sr. (Roseland), David L. Moore (JoVeeta), Rev. Herbert D. Moore (Andrea), Dennis K. Moore (Angela); 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
