Obituary

Lillie Bell Jeffery Conwright, age 88, gracefully transitioned from this life on August 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and devotion that touched everyone around her. Born into a loving family on February 20, 1937, in the small town of Gilmer, Texas, Lillie's life was marked by her unwavering faith, love for family, and dedication to her community.

Educated in the Gilmer ISD school system, she graduated with pride from Gilmer High School, embodying the values of kindness and perseverance she carried with her throughout her life. Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Snow Hill Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas, where her voice graced the choir, and was devote member of Sunday School. Her spiritual journey was integral to her life, providing her with strength and purpose. As life took her to new places, she relocated to Marshall, Texas, where she pursued her passion for beauty and style by attending Hurd's Beauty College.

After settling in Dallas, Texas, Lillie met and fell in love with John Douglas Conwright. Their union was blessed with the birth of seven children, each becoming a testament to Lillie's nurturing and loving spirit. Throughout her life, she balanced the demands of family and career with grace and resilience. She worked with dedication at Texas Instruments and later Dallas ISD, where she served faithfully until her well-deserved retirement.

Lillie's dedication extended beyond her professional life. She was a pillar of Carver Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years, sharing her gift of song in the choir, compassion on the nurses guild, and generosity in the food pantry. Her contributions helped shape a vibrant and caring community, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. In her personal life, Lillie was passionate about her loved ones and found immense joy in family gatherings, laughter-filled travel adventures, and the simple pleasures of life. She had a particular fondness for casino trips, relishing the excitement of the $30 bus rides, which became a cherished pastime she looked forward to. Her life was filled with beautiful memories created with her beloved parents, Junius (Man) Jeffery Jr. and Lavora Johnson Jeffery, her siblings, and her own children and extended family. Though she faced the sorrow of losing her parents, one brother, JB Jeffery, two sisters, Gloria Helen Jeffery and French L. Beckham, and one son, Aubrey Dale Conwright, their memories remained close to her heart, and she carried their spirits with her every day.

As we honor Lillie's legacy, she leaves behind six children, each a reflection of her vibrant spirit and relentless love: Larry Conwright, Synthia Range (Willie), Lisa Conwright, Derrick Conwright, Alicia Patterson (Oscar), and LaShon Anderson (Kevin). Her sister, Lavon Curlin, and brother, John Henry Jeffery, along with a loving extended family, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends, will continue to celebrate her life and cherish the memories they shared.
