Levi was born to Claude Luckey and C. G. Smith. His mother later married Arthur Beachum Sr. who adopted Levi at a young age. Levi became affectionately known as, Ray Baby by his Special Aunt Lena. Ray was a mechanical prodigy and able to break anything down and put it back together better. Arthur taught Ray along with all his boys Auto mechanic skills and made him a part of the family business, "Snowball and Sons".
Later, Ray moved to Dallas and worked with Bill Roach, who loved Ray's personality as well as his skills. When he was ready to retire, he encouraged Ray to open his own Service Station and Bill McKensie (lawyer) and William Thornhill (oil businessman) helped with funding. He opened as "Ray Luckey Texaco" and operated for 29 years servicing some of the wealthiest clients of Highland Park, Dallas. They treated him as a friend, not just a worker. He decided to retire, sold the business, but went to work with his younger brother Robert until LPM convinced him to come work with them. He became affectionately known as Paw Paw by all. He was Head Mechanic training young men who had no auto mechanic skills or knowledge. James Lily was his latest protégé and is now Head Mechanic since Rays' departure.
The family always knew they could depend on him. He will be best remembered for the generosity of his time, money, wisdom, and abilities to help anyone in need. He worked and trained until his health began to fail him. He assured everybody 'he was not afraid of dying, he had outlived his mother and father and any years after were a blessing and he was going to be with the Lord.'
Preceding him in heavenly departure: Mother & Father, Arthur Sr.& C G Beachum, two brothers, Arthur Jr & Andrew Beachum, sister, Marszella Buchanan, special aunt & uncle, Theadwood Sr. and Lena Smith, Grandson Corey Holman.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Three daughters; Rhonda Luckey, Donna (Robert) Griffin, Lori Anderson; One Son: Steven (Kandy Luckey) Sr.; Two adopted sons: John and Eric McFarland; One brother: Robert Beachum Sr.; Two Sisters, Christine Alberty, Mearlene (Kirven) Carroll; Six grandkids, 7 great-grand kids and a host of other relatives and friends.
