Obituary
Lester James Williams was born to the parentage of Albert and Jewell L. McCurry Williams on February 29, 1948, in Jefferson, TX. He accepted Christ at the age of 9 and was baptized at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Jefferson under the pastorate of Rev. A. G. Whiten. He graduated from Central High School in the class of 1966. While in high school, he was a member of the Central High School Marching Band under the leadership of Mr. Clarence A. Smith, Band Director. Upon graduation from high school, he entered Bishop College, Dallas Texas on a Band Scholarship where he was a member of the Bishop College Marching and Concert Band, under the leadership of Mr. Vernon vanBolden, Sr., Band Director. He traveled with the Band supporting Bishop's Football games traveling to competing colleges/universities.
After three semesters at Bishop, Lester left college and went to work in the airline industry for over 25 years. His last job was with Southwest formerly Braniff Airlines, and he retired as a landing gear mechanic and machinist.
On April 3rd, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Ms. Ida Nell Rose. To this union, one daughter was born, Shannon Williams.
For nearly 20 years, he owned and operated ISW Enterprise located on Second Avenue in Dallas.
Lester is a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge where he achieved the 33rd Degree. He is a Past Worshipful Master of the Cedar Grove Masonic Lodge #245 of Dallas. Additionally, he was Past Illustrious Potentate of Zakat Temple #164, Patron of Phyllis Wheatley 326 Order of the Eastern Star (OES). He is currently a member of the Livestone Lodge # 152, Grand Prairie, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jewel McCurry Williams, and brother, Herman Williams (Margaret).
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Ida Nell Rose Williams of 52 years. Daughter, Shannon Deniece Williams, two grandchildren, Kya and Kolin English. One brother, Lawrence Williams (Diane), two sisters, Brenda Cooper (Sonny) of Dallas and Sarah Williams of San Antonio. One nephew, Anthony "Tony" Williams (Lena), Rocklin, CA. Niece, Tori Dawn Hutchins, Dallas, and niece Mildred Scott, Oakland, CA. Two great nieces, Lyriq Hutchins, Dallas, Leah Williams, Rocklin, CA, Janice Kerney of Oakland, CA. and two great nephews, Isaiah and Zachary Williams, Rocklin, CA. Lester leaves to mourn a host of maternal cousins, family and friends.
