Obituary

Lena Raye Kemp Trigg was born on December 30, 1942, in Ruston, Louisiana to the parentage of Joseph Kemp, Sr. and Lou Bertha Brooks, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the second child of six siblings. Two sisters, Margie Kemp and Patsy Pearson, and one brother, Charles Underwood also preceded her in death. Previously departed loved ones also include Lena's nephew, Joseph LeEric Kemp.

At an early age, Lena (affectionally known as "Raye Raye" to family and friends), accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Zion Travel Baptist Church in Ruston, Louisiana. After moving to Dallas, Texas, through Christian faith, she joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend A. F. Thomas, Sr., where she actively served for many years. In 1976, Lena joined with the Lord's Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Carlton Garrett. There she worked faithfully as an active member of the Usher Board No. 1 and the Junior Usher Board. She was also a committed member of the Order of Eastern Star, Marion Chapter of Dallas, Texas.

Lena attended Booker T Washington High School, and upon graduation, attended Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. She was united in holy matrimony to M.W. Trigg, Jr., who preceded her in death. They created a home together with their daughter, L. Chere Trigg.

A caregiver by nature, Lena used her God-given gift to care for those in need. She found fulfillment in helping others and caring for individuals with chronic conditions, disabilities, special needs, or the frailties of age. Her contributions to the caregiving community led to a gratifying career in the home health industry where she worked with A-One-Plus Home Health Care; Gentiva Health Services USA; and Kages Home Health Care. Additionally, she took great pride and responsibility in caring for her loved ones, including her mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and uncle before they transitioned from earth to heaven.

Lena was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She especially loved her role as Nana to her grandson Brenden and Raye Raye to her nieces and nephews. Moreover, Lena touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories one daughter, L. Chere Trigg; one brother, Joseph Kemp, Jr.; one sister, Doris Kemp; and one grandson, Brenden Alexander Fordham all of Dallas, Texas. Three nieces, Shylondia Pearson, Brandy Kemp, and Waukesha Roper. Two nephews, Danny Pearson and Jason Kemp. Four great-nephews, Michael Pearson, Ricky Hall, Jr., Jonathan Pearson, and Joshua Davis. Five great-nieces, DeJonae Marie Kemp, Maliya Na'Cole Kemp-Surrell, Caylie Monroe Thompson, Braiya Lou Thompson, and Peyton Ann Marie Marshall; Four great-great nephews, Jayden Hall-Williams, Julian Torres-Pearson, J'Christian Pearson, and Kai Davis; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends that will continue to remember her amazing spirit for many years.
