Life and Legacy of Leatrice Lewis
Leatrice Lynn Lewis was born in Dallas, Texas on June 21, 1960, to the percentage of John Daniel Lewis Sr. and Daisy Mabel Lewis where she resided most of her life. Leatrice received her education within Dallas Independent School District, graduating from W.H. Adamson High School in 1978. Leatrice continued her education, earning a certificate in Business Administration from El Centro College and received computer training from the Urban League of Greater Dallas. During her educational pursuit, Leatrice also worked for companies such as Sears, J.C. Penny's, and Greyhound Lines Inc where she worked over 10 years before retirement.
Leatrice Gave birth to two children: a beautiful girl, Wymesha, and a handsome boy, Brelon. She made many sacrifices throughout their lives to ensure well-being and good health.
Leatrice spent her years after retirement not only caring for her children, but caring for older adults and the sick and shut-in, as well as serving her community via the spread of NAACP newsletters. She was well known and loved for her selflessness and continuing faith, spreading love, joy, and the word of God to everyone; family, friends, and strangers. She also served on the usher board and participated in Noon Day Service activities at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church where she attended for about 14 years before departure.
Leatrice was preceded in death by her mother Daisy M. Lewis, father John D. Lewis Sr.; brothers LaBaron L. Lewis, John D. Lewis Jr.; sisters Delois M. Fomby and Arnetta A. Phillips.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, daughter Wymesha Pinson, son Brelon Lewis-Pinson (Taran); two grandchildren, Noelle Pinson and Elacia Lasster; brother Arnold J. Lewis; sisters Marchal Adams and Viola Price, and many relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.
