Obituary

Rev. LC Brown, Jr. was the third child born to the union of the late LC Brown, Sr. and Sunday School Superintendent, the late Claudia Horn Brown. He was born on June 18, 1944, in a small West Texas town outside of Lubbock, called Levelland. LC was the only male child, and grew up with a hard working mother and three sisters.

He worked in the cotton fields, played basketball during his youth and school years, and graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1963. He attended South Plains Junior College for a year, moving to Dallas in 1969 to begin a new life in the Big City!

LC taught his first Sunday School Class at the age of seven (7), and never forsook his habit of delving deep into the Word of God and searching the scriptures daily. He attended Southern Bible Institute from 1985 – 1989. A lover of Sunday School who searched the scriptures daily, he remained an avid student of the Word of God, and loved expounding from a unique, lively, yet thought-provoking perspective.

Over the years, Rev. Brown served at a number of churches throughout the Dallas area, including New Jerusalem Institutional Baptist Church, where he answered his call to the ministry; Triumph Missionary Baptist Church, East Gate Baptist Church, and was currently serving at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.

LC worked at Ryerson Steel Company, Parkland Hospital, sold Diamite Jewelry and had other short-term jobs before beginning his Postal Service career in 1969. He was a dedicated employee who combined an excellent work ethic with fun, laughter and dominoes until he retired in 2002.

LC enjoyed bowling and was a member of 'It's Us Again' Bowling League in DeSoto.

Survived by: wife, Derest Brown; children: Jeffery (Octavia) Brown, Anthony (Lisa) Brown, Marc Taylor, Letitia (LC) McClain, Tiffany (Stan) Reed, Zanita (Bryan) Mason, and Lamoyne Brown; numerous grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters, mother-in-law, in-laws, uncles, aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends.
