Lauretta Davis
Carroll
November 1, 1946 – August 1, 2018
Lauretta Davis Carroll was born in Dallas, Texas on November 1, 1946 to the late Birdo and Laura Lee Davis. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and colleague, she touched many lives with her bold spirit, gregarious personality, and enduring love for her family. Beyond her family and friends, she adored her church family at Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she served as an active member. Lauretta was known for her ability and heart to serve, as well as, her down-home, southern cooking style, which she was happy to share. You couldn't spend time with her without an offer for her to feed you, which was one of the ways she demonstrated love. She celebrated life through food and laughter.
She loved all her children and devoted the twilight years of her life raising two of her grandchildren, Brooklynn and Brandon, and always made it a priority to send them out ready for the day. She instilled in them character traits like respect, honor, truth, kindness, and strength, and taught them to put God first in everything they do. She worked hard to create the best educational and life opportunities for them. Her friends would say that she knew how to be a good friend and enjoy the little time she had to herself, which could include trying new recipes, trendy restaurants, or shopping.
Her primary career was in health care, and she spent the past 15 years as a unit secretary at Presbyterian Hospital. Over the years, she became known a key point person in her unit, training countless individuals on the "Hamon III North way". Lauretta could often be seen and heard directing people and processes, as she was one of the most influential employees in her area. Her direct leadership style, commanding presence, sense of humor, and service-mindset will certainly be missed at her beloved Presbyterian Hospital.
Lauretta left each of us a piece of her, and as painful as her sudden absence is, her spirit lives on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. She is survived by her son, Philip M. Davis, daughter, Brandi M. Carroll, her grandchildren, Philip R. Davis (Sharon), Brooklynn J. Williams, Brandon D, Shelton, Brianna N. Carroll and her great grandchildren, Philip A. Davis and Cidney A. Davis.
