LaChandra Smith, affectionately known as "Shawn," was born in Dallas, Texas, on May 29, 1980. She was the eldest child and the beloved daughter of Verdenia Gale (Smith) Thompson.

In the early morning hours of February 5th, LaChandra peacefully transitioned from this life at the age of 45, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion that will live on through every life she touched.

Shawn was the kind of woman you don't forget. She was one of the most loving and supportive people you could ever meet, someone whose presence brought comfort, whose words gave strength, and whose love made people feel seen, safe, and valued. She carried a joy that was contagious and a laugh that could light up a room, turning even ordinary moments into something memorable. She had a way of making people feel like they mattered because to Shawn, they did.

She received her education through the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Skyline High School in 1998. Shawn became a mother at an early age, but motherhood never slowed her down; it fueled her. She carried her responsibilities with grace, determination, and pride, always finding a way to make it work, no matter what the day demanded.

For 25 years, LaChandra faithfully served in her career with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, bringing strength, consistency, and dedication. Many of those years were spent working overnight shifts so she could be present for her children and family during the moments that mattered most. She sacrificed sleep, comfort, and ease so the people she loved could have stability, support, and a mother who always showed up.

Outside of work, Shawn loved the things that made life sweet. She loved cooking, laughing, and singing karaoke like she owned the stage. She loved concerts, and she proudly cheered on her beloved Dallas Cowboys with a loyalty that never wavered. She was a true fan in every sense of her teams, of her people, and especially of her family.

No matter the event or the level, whether it was professional games, local games, or school events, Shawn was there. She showed up loudly, proudly, and wholeheartedly. She was a supporter, a cheerleader, and a backbone for her children, nieces, and loved ones. If you were hers, you never had to wonder if she would come through because she always did.

As a mother, Shawn's love was unwavering. She poured into her children with strength, guidance, and devotion. She raised her children with a fierce kind of love, the kind that protects, pushes, and prays all at once. Even as a single mother, she accomplished something extraordinary: she raised three college graduates and lived to see each earn their bachelor's degrees. Her legacy is written in the lives she nurtured, the sacrifices she made, and the love she gave so freely.

LaChandra was preceded in death by her grandfather, Rev. L.C. Smith; her grandmother, Mattie L. Smith; her uncle, Lawrence Charles Smith; her aunt, Loleta Ann (Smith) Banks; and her nephew, Amari Aubrè Carter.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Majesty Collins and Alexia Wolfe; her only son, Jordan Wolfe; her mother, Verdenia Gale (Smith) Thompson; her sister, LaTambria Smith; her brother, Aubrey Smith; and her beloved nieces, Amaiyah Ross and Mariah Ross.

She also leaves behind her uncles: Ray Spencer Smith, Rev. Larry Donell Smith Sr. (Faye), and Elvin Smith (Annette), along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry her love, her laughter, and her memory in their hearts.
