Obituary

Kenneth Ray Gilbert was born on December 28, 1960, in Beaumont, Texas, to the parents of Eva Mae Roberts and Ausby Gilbert. He grew up as a member of the Catholic faith at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Beaumont. He also attended Greenville Ave Church of Christ.

Kenneth was a graduate of French High School Class of 1979. While attending French he was an active member of the football team, basketball team, and the orchestra where he played the bass, which flourished his love for music. He went to further his education at Lamar University, earning his Associate degree.

Kenneth (DJ Specl' K) was recognized as one of the baddest DJs in Dallas. He popularized legendary nightclubs in the 80s and 90s including, RJs By the Lake, The Lexington, Primetime 21 (Dion Sanders), Uptown Dallas, Park Avenue Dallas, The Richter 9.9 (Houston arc). He was named National Disc Jockey of the Year twice while at K104 in Dallas. To add to his accomplished DJ career, he was a top Car Salesman earning over 50 awards as the #1 salesman throughout his career. He was well known and highly respected at Sport City and other dealerships. He excelled in his careers and he cherished his family.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his mother Eva and father Ausby, his brother James Gilbert and his sisters Margie Piper, Patricia Whiting, and Linda Gilbert. He leaves to mourn and cherish his lasting memories; Wife, Catherine "Yvette" Gilbert, Son; Everett Gilbert, Daughters; LaQreshia Brooks, Keanna Gilbert, and Kendra Gilbert. Grandchildren; Kyla Brooks, Kobe Cole, Kason Brooks-Wahrlich, and Ezra Gilbert. Brothers; Leon Gilbert, Cozelle "Paul" Gilbert, and Tommy Gilbert. Sisters; Stella Jones, Rose Gilbert, Sherlan Roach, and Kim Gilbert. Favorite Nephews; J.C. Lee III and James "Jimmy" Roach. Niece and Goddaughter; Wendy Smith Along with nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends
