Kathryn Jeanette
Mallard
November 9, 1947 – August 8, 2025
Kathryn Jeanette Lampkin Mallard entered this world on November 9, 1947, in the quaint town of Mart, Texas. She was born to Dorothy Lampkin and Jessie Henderson, and was lovingly nurtured by her grandparents, Frankie and Jessie Lampkin. Her childhood set the foundation for the incredible woman she would become. After attending Mart High School, Kathryn moved to Dallas, Texas, where she completed her education and chose to plant her roots. Dallas became more than just her home; it became a place where she would build her life filled with family and cherished memories.
Kathryn spent over two decades working as a medication aide, showing unparalleled dedication and compassion in the medical field. Her commitment not only showcased her work ethic but also her genuine care for others. It was during this time that her path led her to a wonderful man, Harry James Mallard, whom she would marry. Together, they embarked on the journey of parenthood, welcoming six beautiful children into the world: Carlton Kelly, Cedric Mallard, Veronica Mallard, Coretta Mallard, and twins Kimberly and Anthony Mallard. Life, however, often comes with unexpected heartaches, and Kathryn faced such sorrow with the tragic loss of her twins, Veronica and Anthony, at birth. Despite this profound loss, her resilient spirit shone through as she dedicated herself to raising her surviving children.
Kathryn's life was a testament to love and purpose. She possessed an incredible passion for cooking, transforming simple ingredients into meals that comforted and brought joy to everyone around her. Reading was another of her beloved pastimes: she could often be found immersed in a good book, her mind traveling to far-off places with each turn of the page. Traveling gave her the opportunity to explore new horizons and experience life's beauty in different corners of the world. Yet, her greatest joy came from caring for her children and, later, her grandchildren.
A devout Christian, Kathryn's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her beliefs were lived with unwavering purity, kindness, and grace. Those who knew her could attest to her sweet and gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She wasn't just a mother or a grandmother; she was a friend to many, exuding elegance and warmth.
Kathryn left this earthly realm on August 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy shaped by love, faith, and perseverance. She is survived by her devoted children—Carlton Kelly, Cedric Mallard, Corretta Brown, and Kimberly Hayward. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Demond Mallard, Michael Mallard, Danielle Renfro, Christopher Kelly, Brandon Brown, Sharonda Offered, Dezronn Wrenn, Briana Offered, and Carlton Kelly Jr. Moreover, her legacy extends to over a dozen great-grandchildren, each of whom will grow up hearing stories of the tremendous woman whose blood runs through their veins.
