Julia Hoover Viney, 81, passed away on October 8, 2017 at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. She was born on April 4, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to the late Edward and Earline Hoover.
Julia graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953 and was a lifetime member of The Washington/Lincoln Alumni. She worked for Texas Instruments and retired after 30 years of service. At a young age Julia attended and was baptized at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Later, she transferred her membership to Warren United Methodist Church where she served as a faithful member until her death. Julia was a member of the choir, Willing Workers, Pastor Parish Relations, The Food Pantry, United Methodist Women, Community Outreach, the United Methodist Council and various other ministries.
Julia loved the Lord and used her special talent of cooking to feed those in need of a meal. She would also receive requests from family and friends for her delicious peach cobbler and sweet potato pies. She was always known for helping, caring and taking care of others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Earline Hoover, and her brother and sisters, Gussie McDonald, Edward Hoover Jr., Lorraine Hoover and Delores Love.
Julia is survived by Rochester Jones and siblings Carmena Adams, Henry Hoover, Earline Powell (Marvin), and Juanita Benjamin. Her daughters Denise Davis (Michael), Dinah Elmore (James), Tammy Brown (David); Six grandchildren, Marlon Davis (Victoria), Melka Davis, Derric Elmore, Paul Brown (Jessica), Brittany Elmore, Allen Brown (Andrea); Two great grandchildren, Aria Elmore and Adalynn Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.
