Obituary

Joseph Lee Jackson was born April 7, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the parentage of Sherman E. Jackson, Sr. and Josephine Jackson, who both preceded him in death.  After a short valiant battle with cancer, Joseph relinquished his fight and entered Eternal Rest, March 2, 2022.

After he graduated from Eureka High School, Joseph attended Tennessee State University, where he met Sara Kennedy, whom he later married and preceded him in death.  Together, they raised three daughters, Cheryl, Karyn, and Toni, who are all left to cherish their memory.

While at Tennessee State University, Joseph became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and was a member of "The Aristocrat of Bands," where he marched in the JFK Inaugural Parade in 1961. In 1964, Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, which eventually relocated him to California, where after 20 years, he retired as Maj. Joseph Jackson. He went on to work as a civilian at TRW and after relocating to Texas in 1995, City of Dallas, from where he retired for the last time.

In addition to Daddy's Girls (Cheryl, Karyn, Toni and later adding Felicia), Joe leaves to cherish his memory his grandchildren, Naji and Flower, his brothers, Sherman Jackson, Jr. (Mary), Kenneth Jackson (Jean), Langston Jackson (Billie), best friend/brother, Steven Dailey, special friend, Bettie Scott and a host of extended relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations of love be made in Joseph's honor to www.zerocancer.org
