Obituary

Johnny Floyd Johnson was born on August 2, 1936, in Paris, Texas, to the late Arthur Jack and Lois Johnson. Johnny was the eldest of their children. He attended Gibbons High School. After establishing his shoe repair business, he moved to Dallas, Texas to expand his skills and business. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lillie Ruth Johnson on July 25, 1964, faithfully for 43 years until her death. He was a member of Greater St. John P.B.C. under the leadership of Elder F. L. Livingston, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He sang in the Dallas Fellowship Male Chorus. He later allied with Pilgrim Rest M.B.C under the leadership of Pastor C. W. Wallace.

He was a supportive brother, father, uncle and grandfather. Johnny was known as a hardworking straight shooter who was there with sage advice in your time of need. He was revered as a dutiful shoe repairman for 30 years, as well as worked at Army and Air Force Exchange Services for an additional 30 years. Alongside his full-time job, he worked part-time at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport as a Sky Cap to ensure his family was well-cared for.

He adored children. Upon retiring, he spent his free time as a school crossing guard. Through all his hard work, he never lost his smooth walk. He was a sharp dresser and excelled in games of bid whist and dominoes. Gardening and sitting on his patio were also among his favorite pastimes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Ruth Johnson, Aunt Vera Johnson, daughter Sharon Allen, two sisters, Wanda F. Stewart and Shirley Cooper, and one brother, Oscar Johnson.

He is survived by his son, Carlton K. Johnson (Joyce), daughter, Tonya Johnson-Mikel (Walter), two brothers, Micheal Leon Johnson and Larry Johnson (Florida), one special sister-in-law, Alice Willis, six grandsons, Jeremy Allen (Tamara), Carlos Johnson (Kristi), Christopher Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Keith Johnson, Tyler Johnson-Mikel, one granddaughter, Shana Allen, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
