Bishop Esters was truly a man with a wealth of wisdom, a spiritual man, full of the Holy Ghost who lived his testimony. There wasn't a time you could be in his presence and not hear about the goodness of the Lord before leaving him. No matter where he was. at the tire shop, in the grocery store, on the phone or wherever you may find yourself, you were going to hear about JESUS!!!
Joe Louis Esters was the 6th of 8 children born to Roosevelt and Lula Dee (Winters) Esters on September 14, 1936. He was born in Holly Ridge, MS and later moved to McGehee, AR where he completed his formal education and graduated from Desha High School in McGehee, AR.
He later moved to Dallas, TX around the age of 21 and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He eventually ended up at this location where this building was purchased. He pastored and appointed Pastor Gaylon Harrison as the Pastor of Second Avenue MBC. He was then appointed to Bishop over Second Avenue MBC.

Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be, a resting place along the road to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way, we all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay. Our destination is a place far greater than we know, for some, the journey's quicker, for some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward, and find an everlasting peace, together with the Lord.
