Life Reflections
Jimmy Mitchell was born to Andrew Joseph Mitchell and Florence Mitchell on December 8, 1941 in St. James Parish Louisiana. He was the 3rd of 11 children.
He accepted Christ at an early age at St. James Parish and later became a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine, Texas. He later joined the Bexar Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. C.C. Robertson where he served a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, Sunday School Scholar, Male Chorus, member of the finance committee and attended early morning service as well as 10:45am service.
He attended public schools in Louisiana until the age of 12 in which the family moved to Grapevine, Texas and he attended Grapevine Elementary. Later he attended I-M Terrell in Fort Worth, Texas where he graduated. He joined the US Air Force February 1, 1961 to January 1965 and two years inactive. He was employed at Mosher Steel and Glitch Welding Companies and retired from Glitch upon their closure. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, playing dominos, playing the guitar and singing. Two of his favorite songs were "Silent Night" and "My Tribute, To God Be the Glory".
He was preceded in death by his Parents Andrew and Florence Mitchell and brother and sister-in-law Robert and LuBertha Mitchell.
Who can find a virtuous wife? The heart of her husband doth safely trust her. Jimmy and Virginia Wafer were united in marriage on June 19, 2004.
He leaves to celebrate his Homegoing and cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife Virginia Wafer Mitchell; two daughters Michelle King (Loyd) of Arlington, Texas and Shaquinta (Duwayne) of Columbia, South Carolina; two sons Jimmy Sampson and Derek Sampson (Tammie) both of Dallas, Texas; three sisters Katherine Dennis (Austin) St. James Parish Louisiana, Josephine Winfield (Billy) Caddo Mills, Texas, Marion Blueitt (Wilson) of Lewisville, Texas; six brothers Norman Mitchell, Duncanville, Texas, Herbert Mitchell (Brenda) and Fred Mitchell (Bobbie) both of Lewisville, Texas, Charles Mitchell (Kathleen) of Carrollton, Texas, Michael Mitchell (Chris) of Dallas, Texas and Peter Mitchell (Cathy) of Ennis, Texas; brother-in-laws Glen Wafer (Sharon) and Clarence Wafer (Pam) both of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Jerrell King, Baille Sampson, Nicholas Sampson and Amari Powell, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
