Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Lee Carson was born to the parents of Elmer Lee Carson and Llewellyn Tanner Carson on January 7, 1947, in Dallas, Texas.

Uncle Jimmy, as he was fondly known by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, ascended to his heavenly home on October 6, 2024. Jimmy's early education began at St. Anthony's Catholic School. He later attended St. Peter's High School Academy, where he excelled in academics and sports. As a vital part of the school's basketball team, he helped lead his team to the state championship. In his senior year of high school, he transferred to and graduated from James Madison High School. Upon graduation, he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. After just a year, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country while fighting in the Vietnam War. While in the army, he was awarded numerous medals for his bravery. After his tour of duty, Jimmy Lee began work at the United States Postal Service, where he walked his routes as a postal carrier for over thirty-one years. He was loved by the many customers on his routes because of his dependable, loyal, and friendly customer service.

Throughout Uncle Jimmy's life, he remained a confirmed bachelor as he never married nor fathered any children. He showered love on his nieces, nephews, and younger cousins.

Jimmy Lee Carson is preceded in death by his parents Elmer Lee Carson and Llewellyn Tanner Carson, brothers Kenneth Johnson (Virginia) and Elmer Lee, Jr., a special aunt, Mary Lou "Nanny" Sneed, and nephew LaTroy Carroll.

He leaves to cherish his memory a very supportive bonus mother, Erma Lurline Carson, loving sisters Joyce Marie Carson, Tonia Carson Jones, Nell (Eckel) Johnson, one surviving uncle, Mr. Nathaniel Tanner, nephews Gregory Carson, Daylon Carson, James Carson, and nieces Billieandrea J'Ellyn Wade, Caylon Jones, special dedicated cousins/nieces Quyshaun (Jesse) Wilson and Valencia Hardley. Several grand/great nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends will also miss this loving brother, uncle, and friend. His special nephew, whom Uncle Jimmy treated like a son, Ja'Khedric Wade, will also truly miss him.
