Jewell Kilmer
Powell
March 14, 1959 – September 1, 2025
Jewell Kilmer Powell, Jr., 66, transitioned to perfect peace on September 1, 2025, at his home amongst his loving family in Mansfield, Texas. Death's angel bore the spirit of Jewell away to a place that is free from sorrow and pain. There will be no more tears, sighs, or worries.
Jewell was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Jewell Kilmer Powell, Sr., and Katherine Lovette Powell on March 14, 1959. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1977. Jewell continued his academic pursuit and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts & Technology Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1983.
Jewell met his wife, Cininni Brown, at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where both graduated in May 1983. They were married in August of 1983. They packed their few belongings and moved to Arlington, Texas, to begin their careers and family. To this union, three children were born: Kumaras, Krsna, and Kyran. Jewell was also the proud father of Tiffany, Brandon, and Shayla from previous relationships. Jewell and Cininni had a strong, dedicated, committed and loving relationship making them inseparable for 42 years, until death did them part.
Jewell had successful careers as a Production Control Team Lead at ARA Manufacturing, Procurement Project Coordinator at Siemens, and Director of Facilities at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. He also ran a business, JP Janitorial Services and Supplies, for several years. He was a committed, dedicated, hard worker until he became ill.
Jewell spent his entire life in service to his family, church, and community. His conscientious, diligent service won many friends for him. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Taylor Arkansas at a young age. He would often travel to Taylor to church with his father every other Sunday. He also attended his mother's church, Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Later in life, he and Cininni joined Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas under the spiritual guidance and teaching of his hometown friend, Reverend Dwight McKissic.
Jewell especially loved working with children and youth, and started volunteer coaching teams in baseball, football, and basketball with his sons participating. The teams were successful, traveling and often winning tournaments locally and statewide. He enjoyed the camaraderie and valuable relationships and life lessons gained with the other team coaches, parents, and of course, the players immensely.
Jewell was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell K. Powell Sr., and Katherine Powell; his grandparents, Edgar D. and Nettie Powell (paternal), and James and Corine Lovette (maternal) and Brother-in-law, Percy Singleton Sr. Jewell's memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Cininni Brown Powell; his sons, Brandon, Kumaras, and Kyran Powell; daughters, Tiffany Powell, Shayla Nelson, and Krsna Powell Sayari (Amine); and his grandchildren, Randrel Hayes, Brooklyn Powell, Cornelius Lavelle Walker, Jr. (CJ), Shian, Kylie and Destiny Nelson, Kumariya Powell and Kamrynn Powell; Great-grandchild, Imani Powell; his siblings, Belinda Singleton and Xavier Powell; his nephews, Quincy Powell, Percy Singleton (Larissa) and nieces, Jade Deras (Ricardo) and Jada Powell; great nephews Percy Singleton III, Valentino Deras and great nieces, Naiya and Laiyla Singleton.
