Obituary
On May 11, 1937, a daughter was born to Vernon and Rebelia Anderson in Bethany, La. Jewel met and married Henry Smith on
Jewel accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in her youth under Rev. Holt at Berean Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas. She attended Central High school, and graduated from Prairie View A&M University. Jewel worked for Sears Department Store for 25 years, and later at Big Lots for 28 years. Jewel retired from Dallas ISD after 28 years of service.
Jewel was a faithful member of Metropolitan Baptist Church until her health began to decline, where she served diligently on the Mission Committee.
Jewel was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, three brothers Willie, Vernon, Ivory Anderson, four sisters Mildred Anderson, Vertis Boldware, Ruby Britton and Eddie Lee Durden.
Jewel is survived by one brother Rudolphus (Maymie) Anderson of Houston, TX., two sisters Bobbie Jean Brent Houston, TX., and Charlie McDonald of Jefferson, TX., and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of loving friends.
