Obituary

On October 4, 1973, a baby boy was born to Calvin and Beverly Tubbs, in Dallas, Texas whom they named Jarrod Bernard Tubbs.

Jarrod was a member of New Mount Gilead Baptist, and accepted Christ at an early age.

Jarrod was active in Sunday School, as well as other Church activities, under the leadership of Pastor Locke.

Jarrod received his education in Wilmer Hutchins ISD. Jarrod excelled academically at Wilmer Hutchins High School, and graduated with fellow Eagle Classmates of 1992. Jarrod later attended Jarvis Christian College, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

While attending Jarvis Christian College, Jarrod pledged and joined Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Phi Beta Death Chapter. Big Brother Tubbs was a huge sturdy tree for the Phi Beta Family and recognized the dedication it took to serve unconditionally with love and sacrifice for the organization.

Jarvis is also the home of where he found his "good thing", his wife, Andrea "Dre" Simpson. Jarrod and Andrea were joined together in Holy Matrimony in Fort Worth, TX on April 24, 2008. For over 19 years, Tubbs and Dre have shared their love for Jarvis Christian College and their affiliation with Omega together. They have spent their best days studying the Word of God, playing dominoes, traveling the world, celebrating their Alma Mater, and loving on their five children. Dre was dedicated to loving and caring for Tubbs until the moment that he passed. He was a loving and committed father who was extremely active in each of his five children's lives.

Preceding him in death was his Stepfather Russell Mangrum, and Grandparents Bernard Johnson, Mary Johnson, Gladys Tubbs, and Theresa Williams.

Jarrod's commitment to helping others lead him to teaching with the Wilmer Hutchins ISD; CEP Alternative School; and Dallas Juvenile Detention Center. Jarrod was employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division until his departure.

To know Jarrod was to love him. His smile, his laugh, his caring heart and concern for others was evident in his daily life. He was a man who strived to live with integrity and to always be considerate of others.

Those left to cherish his beautiful memories: Loving Wife Andrea Tubbs, children Jamiah, Jaedon, Jeremiah, Janiyah, and Sarai; Mother Beverly Mangram; Father Calvin Tubbs; Brothers Kenneth Johnson (Yolanda), DeBrian Kim Johnson; In-laws Roy and Brenda Simpson; Sister-in- Law Tina Burton; Nieces Kendralynn Johnson, Kenlondria Johnson; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Frat Brothers, Friends and Coworkers.
