His Life Journey
James Wesley Reece entered this world on September 20, 1944 in Crockett, Texas to the delight of his parents, the late Robert D. and Annie Mae Reece. James was the baby of four, joining older siblings, Robert E., John L. and Betty Sue Reece.(all preceded him in eternal rest)
James received his formal education in Crockett ISD, graduating in 1963 from Ralph J. Bunch High School. James was very athletic and excelled in baseball and basketball. Baseball was his heart and he often talked about his missed opportunity to sign with the Chicago White Sox. James nurtured his baseball love by coaching and playing softball; his hard work and dedication earned his team great memories and numerous trophies.
James attended Ranger Junior College in Ranger, TX but was drafted by The United State Army after his freshman year. James military service took him to Vietnam where he served 1 year. He received an Honorable Discharge with E-4 rank.
After serving his country James began his civilian career with the United States Postal Service where he worked for 42 years holding different positions before retirement. James loved listening to oldies, Johnny Taylor and Bobby Blue Bland were his go to favorites.
James was married to Levert Easterling on June 9, 1966, to this union they were blessed with 4 children: Gregory Bernard, Paul Anthony, Marcus O'Brian and Angela Yvette (who preceded him in death)
James answered the Angels whisper on February 24, 2022 at 10:33pm at the VA Hospital, Dallas, Texas.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Levert E. Reece, Sons, Gregory B. Reece, Paul A. Reece and Marcus O. Reece (Floris) Dallas, TX, 2 Grandchildren, Marquise O. Reece and Evony Jones, Dallas, TX, 3 GreatGrands Londyn Reece, Jamier Jones and Carson Jones. Sister-in-laws; Alberta Reece, Kountze, TX, Ruby Lene Allen, Tyler, TX, Annie M. Ross and Bobbie Easterling, Crockett, TX, Ada Hackney, Emma Easterling, Marcia Easterling and Ruby J Easterling, Dallas, TX, 2 God Children Shawnte F. Deyon and Joielle Bivins; a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
