James Nelson Maddox, Jr. was born August 4, 1946 in Henderson, Texas to the late James Nelson Maddox, Sr. and the late Exie Mae Maddox.  He was the first of five children.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age.  He received his formal education from Henderson Public Schools and Fort Worth ISD, graduating from Dunbar High School. He later attended and received an Associate's degree from Mountain View College in 1977.

He met and married Mary Beasley and to this union, three children, Moshae Lynette Fobbs, Devonia Lestelle and Marques Nelson Maddox were born. Mary and James were married for 48 years.

James was employed and eventually retired from the United States Postal Services after 35 years of service.  He also served in the United States Armed Forces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Douglas Maddox, Sr., and Nolan Maddox.

His memories will be cherished by his wife, Mary, his children:  Moshae Fobbs, Devonia and Marques Maddox, brothers Exton Maddox (Sylvia) and Chalmer Maddox (Cassandra), 3 grandchildren, Cameron Fobbs, Marques and Makayla Maddox and a host of loving relatives and friends.
