Life Reflections

James Henry Hunter Jr. affectionately known to his family as "Sonny Boy" was born on September 29, 1932 in Tennessee Colony, Palestine, Texas to Maggie Ingram Hunter and James Henry Hunter Sr. He was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday June 30, 2022 at 10:10 am at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.  His father passed away one month before he was born so he never had the pleasure of knowing him.  He longed for that relationship with his father all of his life and now they have met face to face.

James moved to Dallas at a very young age.  He grew up in West Dallas with his mother (now deceased), and two sisters.

James began his career in the Title Industry working his way from errand runner to Title Examiner for Stewart Title and Plant Manager, VP at Safeco Land Title where he worked at both companies for many years before retiring.  Still wanting to help people in the city and community, he later formed JH Title Research Company.

Brother Hunter was a faithful member of The Church of the Living God where he served on the Deacon Board and Finance Committee.  He loved his church family and attended until his health would no longer allow him to be present.  He led by example and instilled spiritual values in his children teaching us to pray, read, and live by the word of God.  He loved to barbeque and welcomed all to come eat.  He loved to watch sports and entertain and always had an encouraging word to offer and a listening ear to lend.

He met and married Pauline Robertson at a very young age and to this union, two children were born, Wanda Jean (deceased) and Danny James Hunter.

He later met and married Tomey Joyce Clayton Hunter, who preceded him in death.  To this union four children were born, Janeth Denise Hunter, Tommy A. Hunter, James Henry Hunter III, and Carolyn Renea Hunter West.

He united in marriage to Jeroline Pennington Hunter, who preceded him in death in 2014.  They were happily married for more than 40 years.  She loved and helped to raise his four young children.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Joe Ross.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory: Children, Danny James Hunter, Janeth Denise Hunter, Tommy A. Hunter, James Henry Hunter III (Joyce), Carolyn Renea Hunter West, and Bonus Son, Michael Curtis.

Grandchildren: Sharon Ross, Annette Ballard, Tiffany Hunter, Gregory West, James Henry Hunter IV, Ashley Nicole Hunter, and Alexis Paige Hunter.

8 Great-Grandchildren, two sisters, Annie Warren and Dorothy West.  Very special family friend, Doretta Ward, Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.
