"To everything there is a season: a time to be born… A time to believe" Ecclesiastics. 3:1
On January 25, 1929 in Teague, Texas God blessed Levi & Nora Graham with their 12th of 14 children, James Worth Graham, Sr. He received his education in Forney, Texas and later joined the United States Army where he served and fought in the Korean War.
"For we walk by faith not by sight." II Corinthians 5:7
James united with AFMBC shortly after it's inception in September 1986. He was a faithful worshiper until his health failed. He loved studying the word of God and that was evident of his faithful attendance with the "Men Bible Support (Bible) Study Group." A community based group that meets each Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Tommie Allen Recreation Center.
James spent his early years working for Continental where he met the love of his life, Gertrude Timmons. They were joined in holy matrimony on September 10, 1954. To this union three children were born, it would start a legacy that would span over decades. James was a jack of all trades and could repair, build or do just about anything. He worked as a builder for Berkley Construction before deciding to make a career change and going to work for the U.S. Postal Service. After working for the post office for thirty-nine years he decided it was time for yet another change in careers. That change took him to Go-Crete Construction where he worked as a Diesel Mechanic and would later retire in 1994. James was a wise, kind, gentle, sweet, fun, caring, compassionate and positive person, to know him was to love him. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He filled lives with laughter, jokes, knowledge, dances and songs. He could tell you a story and make you feel like you were actually there experiencing it. He loved his family and said it or expressed it every day. He was a hard worker and taught many people, not just his family what it was and how to be a man who loved God, a role model, a father, a faithful husband and a friend. He would always greet you with a smile and see you off with an "After while crocodile!"
"For I am now ready to be offered…" II Timothy 4:6
On Monday, January 8, 2018 the Lord wrapped his loving arms around James and whispered, "Come with me." Although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. We will miss your dancing, singing and hearing you say "aaawww man" but know that you have gained your wings and are now dancing before the Lord.
"I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." John 14:18
