Obituary

James Edward Mitchell (Mitch), the son of Willie Mae Jones and Gideon Grey, was born in Marlin, Texas on February 23, 1945.

He moved to Dallas in 1954.He graduated from Madison High School in 1964, where he served as captain of the varsity basketball team. From there he attended Kansas State University in Pittsburg, KS., then Temple Junior College and graduated from Dallas Baptist University. AT DBU he was Captain of the men's Basketball team. He graduated with a BS in History in 1970.

James worked as a Professional Negotiator and Buyer in the food industry for 47 years. He retired from Pecan Deluxe Candy Company as Director of the Procurement Department in 2015. He married his college sweetheart, Alfreda Moore, October 9, 1971. To their union was born one daughter, Tiffany (Mitchell) Howard and, one granddaughter, Bailey Howard.

James was the oldest child of nine. He is survived by brothers Jerryln Jones(Charlene) Plano, TX, LV Jones, (Rosie)Mansfield, TX, Bobby Jones (Paulette) Houston, TX, Brian Jones Dallas, TX, Sammy Jones(Sandra) Dallas: sisters Joyce Moore and, Sharon Jones of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by brother Edmond Jones.

On November 25, 2017, God decided to call His beloved servant home. Although he had been ill for 5 ½ months, he still tried to read and study his Bible daily. James was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart and served Him faithfully. James was a devoted and dedicated friend, a loving husband and father until the end. We all loved him deeply; however, God loved him more. No words can ever express how much he will be missed or how much he was loved.

James leaves to celebrate his memory and cherish his life: His beloved wife of 46 years Alfreda, daughter Tiffany Howard, granddaughter Bailey Howard, Aunts Roberta Mitchell and Geneva Bledso,Siblings and a host of relatives and friends.
