James "Smiley" Bryant was born on August 3, 1937 to the parentage of Constant and Sylvia Bryant in Dallas, Texas. James received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District. James was a dedicated employee at Alford Warehouse.

James became a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in West Dallas. James enjoyed playing pool, watching westerns, and indulging in his favorite food Chicken and Dumplings.

James is preceded in death by his parents: Constant & Sylvia Bryant; Son: James Bryant, Jr.; Siblings: Johnell Bryant, Donell Bryant, Edith Bryant, and Michael Bryant.

Smiley leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy of love: Children: Rita Mack, Tony Bryant, Pamela Cutliff (Henry), Jamie Lynn Brown, Byron Jones, Derrick Jones, Coretta Jones and Darron Seaberry; Siblings: Constant Bryant, Jr., Maxine Jackson, Charles Bryant, Claudett, Shelia, Mark and Joe Sterling; Grandchildren; Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
