James Barry was born on November 28,1948in Shreveport, LA to Bobbie George Barry and Bessie McIntosh Barry.

James graduated from Bethune Jr. Sr. High School class of 1967, After high school James moved to New York where he resided for 43 years. James moved to Texas in 2014 to be close to his daughter and grandson's.

James Barry and Theresa Bowden were married on January 26, 1971 in Jamaica, NY, they shared 45 blessed years together.

During his time in New York James was a member of Union Baptist Church Hempstead,NY, he served as Senior Deacon of My.Zion Lodge #1, his career was spent in Construction Work and he also served time as Union Forman for local 79, he was a proud member of The Raiders Car Club where he took part in serving the community. James was encouraged and transformed by his participation in the Millon Man March on Washington 1995. He was also a Radio DJ for WSAS-TV Hour News with the handle "JB Master Blaster".

James was a father of one daughter:Tunesalyn Robinson Irokwe, two grandson's: Jesse Irokwe & Jeffrey Irokwe.

James Barry is preceded in death by his wife Theresa Bowden Barry, father Bobbie George Barry, mother Bessie McIntosh, brothers Charlene Charles Barry and Theodore Barry, sisters Vera L. Barry Ward, Emma Barry,and Frankie Jean Lattin.

He leaves to Celebrate His Life and Legacy of Love: Brother Stanley Barry, daughter Tunesalyn Robinson Irokwe, mother of daughter Virgie Robinson Styles, grandsons, Jesse Irokwe and Jeffrey Irokwe, sister In Law: Cheryl Bowden Tiffin and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousin's Godchildren, other relatives and friends.
