Jamelle Yasmeen Owens, resident of Hurst, Texas, after a courageous battle, has succumbed to her illness with Sickle Cell Anemia.
Jamelle was born in Montclair, CA to James Owens and Jenell Morant Owens. She moved to Irving Texas in 1981. She was a precious baby, who stole her father's heart and he could never tell her no. Jamelle graduated from MacArthur High School in 1998. Her aspiration was modeling and she found solace in styling her hair like the runway models. She attended prominent studios for acting and modeling classes. She was musically talented and played the violin and flute.
Jamelle accepted Christ in 1994 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington where she sang in the Youth Choir.
Jamelle enjoyed new experiences and relished in making jewelry, collecting semi-precious stones, video games and horror movies; she enjoyed going to haunted houses. She was into all kinds of music and especially liked Michael Jackson. Michael could have learned some steps, as she loved to busta' move. Jamelle was a quasi-member of the TLC music group and a stand in for whenever Aaliyah (songstress) was ill.
Jamelle was a roller coaster enthusiast and recently spent the Thanksgiving holiday at Kemah Boardwalk with her extended family. She enjoyed Egyptian culture and collected many artifacts. She was studying the Japanese language and often listened to J-Pop (Japanese pop music).
Jamelle's favorite toy was Tigger; for many years everything Tigger'. She also enjoyed Anime', turtles and butterflies. She loved all her many cousins and always wanting to hold the newest baby. Her mother would clean and prepare chitlins for six hours and Jamelle would clean the pot out in a night. She just loved food and found comfort in good home cookin'. Anyone say macaroni salad and ham?
Even though Jamelle was often suffering through her illness, she found time for humor. An example is the humorous way she responded to children who used to make fun of her yellow jaundiced eyes. She would simply say, "I'm a cat."
Jamelle is survived by her parents, Jenell Tomlinson (James Tomlinson) and James Owens. Her siblings James Jr. and Sorion Owens, Krystal and James Tomlinson Jr. and Jermina Hall (Clifton). Her grandmother Jean McNair and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves to grieve her cats Lemuria and Baby.
