Obituary

A beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Jacqueline Cornelius Watson 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. Jacqueline was the first-born, of two children born to the late Frances Kenney and Lanus Weaver on December 14, 1939 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She grew up on her grandparent's farm where she began her matriarch journey learning the importance of caring for animals, family and the rewards of hard work. She accepted Christ early in life and was a member of East Star Baptist Church in McAlester. Jacqueline attended the local schools in her area and was a trumpet player in her high school marching band. She graduated from L'Ouverture High School in McAlester, Oklahoma in 1959. After graduation she moved to Dallas, Texas to attend Secretarial School.

Not long afterward, she met the love of her life, Lonzie Watson, Sr. from Gulfport, Mississippi and they united in holy matrimony on August 17, 1965. To this union they were blessed with 5 children, Dara, Lonzie Jr., Andrae, Andrew and Ardis. Jacqueline worked for Texas Instruments for 35 years. Then Jacqueline felt a calling in her life and with the love of her life by her side worked as a Foster-Parent for the state of Texas assisting one hundred or more children.

"Because of her being the epitome of a Proverbs 31 mother, we are who we are. And her legacy will live on forever."

"Grandma" as she was affectionately known by all her grandchildren constantly talked about life, faith, and the importance in giving freel and the lesson of servinc was learned by all."

Jacqueline Watson knew her purpose in this life, and how to care for and help others. She made a difference in every life she touched. We can only imagine that heaven rejoiced upon her arrival. She will be loved forever. Mother we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a job well done.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Frances Kenney and father, Lanus Weaver; brothers, Lester Hayes and Bill Weaver.

She leaves to cherish her memory Lonzie Watson, Sr. (husband of fifty-five years of Dallas, TX); one brother, Bobby Weaver of Oklahoma; one daughter, Dara Lewis and husband James Lewis of Dallas, Tx; four sons, Lonzie Watson, Jr. and wife, Brandi of Dallas, Tx, Andrae Watson of Dallas, Tx, Andrew Watson of Dallas, Tx, Ardis Watson and wife, Brandi Watson of Andrew, Tx, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
