Obituary

Jackie Taylor

God created a ray of sunshine and Jacqueline "Jackie" Faye Roberson Taylor was born to her precious parents, Alfred Roberson Sr., and Clarie Fountain Roberson Taylor on November 30, 1941. Jackie was sweetly loved by her parents and her siblings, Gloria Ann Barrett, Alfred Roberson Jr. and Jerry Roberson. All of them met her in Heaven when God called her to live with Him forever more.

Jackie was raised in Dallas, Texas and received her educational foundation from J W Ray and C F Carr Elementary schools. She briefly attended St. Peter's Catholic School . She was a proud 1961 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.

Jackie and Dr. Theman Ray Taylor, Sr. together shaped the lives of their four children, Donobbra "Neicey", Theman "Ray", Nena "ReRe" and Deirdra "DeDe" whom they adored. Jackie later lived in California and Arkansas. She remained the most encouraging support system for her children and took them everywhere. She often reminisced about the house parties when she'd tuck her kids in for bed and then go into the living room and dance!

Jackie loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. She often reminded others that "God has been good to me." and "Ya know, I still have Joy." Jackie united with Greater Pleasant Branch Baptist Church under the late Rev. Jerome Raynor in Conway, Arkansas. When she returned to Dallas, Jackie united with Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. K a rry Wesley. Jackie was a part of the Greeters Ministry and her "light so shined." She also loved to attend the senior activities, especially Fair Day and the Prom. Jackie faithfully attended her church services until her health condition presented unforeseen challenges.

Jackie established lasting relationships at her numerous places of employment: Weslock; University of California, Santa Barbara; University of Central Arkansas, Southern Methodist University and the Dallas Public Library. Jackie was so dedicated to the students that many of them considered her their second mother.

After Jackie retired, she spent years dedicating her life to taking care of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and others who adopted her as their own.  Jackie loved to find bargains for all her babies . Eve n though she didn't drive the freeway, she attended their life milestones, no matter how far.  Jackie shared her heart, smile, and feistiness with them. She always wanted the best for her family .

On February 11, 2022, Jackie gave us a glimpse of Heaven by saying "Hallelujah, Jesus" and called out the names of her family members who are already in Heaven.  She told us she was ready, asked "May I go?" and squeezed our hands as we stood at her bedside. On February 12, 2022 , the Lord lovingly answered Jackie's question and said yes with His actions. She peacefully transitioned into Heaven.

Jackie leaves the best memories and hugs of love to us all: Children, Donobbra McGee (Arthur), Theman Taylor II (Monica), Nena Taylor and Deirdra Harris (Barry Sr.); Grandchildren, Donosha Mikle (Brandon), Kamara Barnett (Jabari), Imani Cummins (Darryl), Taylor Harris, Barry Harris Jr., Ezekiel Harris, Theman Taylor III and Mia Taylor; Great Grandchildren, Jayvien Brown, Braylen Mikle, Damani Cummins, Imari Cummins, Ariel Mikle and Dimaya Cummins; Brother-in-Law: Richard Barrett Sr; Sister-in-Law: Sandra Kaye Roberson and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
