Jack Alfred Jones was born on January 4, 1960, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Mr. Jack Jones, Jr. and Mrs. Blanche Jones.
Jack graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1978, where he was a proud member of the marching band and played the trombone. Following graduation, he spent several years in Detroit, Michigan, working at McCloth Steel, before returning home to Baton Rouge, where he remained until 2024.
Jack was the devoted father of two daughters, Danita McFarland Jones (Christopher Jones) of Dallas, Texas, and Krystal Love of Detroit, Michigan. He was also a proud grandfather to Ta’Kya Love and Antonio Johnson, both of Detroit, Michigan.
For many years, Jack worked as a truck driver alongside his father with Allied Van Lines, helping families relocate across the country. He was known for his knowledge of the trucking industry, strong work ethic, and sense of pride in serving others.
Jack was affectionately known as “Jay” throughout his community. He never met a stranger and had a natural gift for connecting with people. His warm personality, quick wit, and endless supply of jokes brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was also incredibly talented—an excellent cook and truly a “jack of all trades.”
Jack accepted Christ at an early age and remained grounded in his faith throughout his life. He was a member of a local church in Baton Rouge and carried his beliefs with him in both word and spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Jones, Jr. and Blanche Jones, and his beloved brother, Kelvin Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Janis M. Jones of Detroit, Michigan; his daughters, Danita McFarland Jones (Christopher Jones) of Dallas, Texas, and Krystal Love of Detroit, Michigan; his grandchildren, Takya Love and Antonio Love; his nephew, Jihannh Alexander (Thomas Alexander) of Dallas, Texas; his sister-in-law, Heidi Jones; his nieces, Irene Eola Gie and Kayla Jones; his great-nieces, Madison, Chloe, Ava, and Olivia; his great-nephew, Brandon, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; along with a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Jack was loved unconditionally. Though he faced trials, he was a testament to perseverance and faith. God’s hand remained upon him until he took his last breath, protecting him through every season. We are deeply grateful for the years we shared with him and the many moments in which God’s grace carried him safely through.
