J D Dodd, Jr. was born on October 28, 1966 to J D Dodd, Sr. and Mary C. Dodd. He was a native of Dallas, Texas and the younger of two children.

J D was educated in the Dallas Independent School District.He attended South Oak Cliff High School and attended part-time at Skyline Magnet High School. J J D Dodd, Jr. was born on October 28, 1966 to J D Dodd, Sr. and Mary C. Dodd. He was a native of Dallas, Texas and the younger of two children.

J D was educated in the Dallas Independent School District. He attended South Oak Cliff High School and attended part-time at Skyline Magnet High School. J D received his high school diploma from South Oak Cliff High School in 1985 graduating with Honors.

J D earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree from Cedar Valley College. Subsequently, he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in History and Social Sciences from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also participated in the Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Leadership Program sponsored by State Senator Royce West.

J D had a successful career of over 25 years in the Criminal Justice system. He served as Detention Officer – Dallas County Sheriff's Department, Parole Officer II (Sr. Officer) – Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Federal Officer with the United States Customs and Border Protection of the United States Department of Homeland Security.

J D also served as a Youth Advisor and Teacher in Special Education at Dallas Public Schools.

J D grew up in a Christian home and attended Jordan Baptist Church in his early years and was baptized at Central Point Church of Christ during his adult years. He loved his parents, sister, nieces, family and friends deeply with an unselfish, helpful and protective love.

J D is a Mason 33rd Degree and was the former Secretary and on the Original Board of Trustees for King Solomon Lodge #514. He enjoyed fellowship, traveling to conferences, community service events with his Mason brothers and he admired the older Mason brothers for wisdom and guidance.

J D is preceded in death by his father, J D Dodd, Sr. and mother, Mary C. Dodd.

J D leaves to cherish his memories: Sister, Darlene Dodd (Melvin Neal), nieces, Brittany Brock, Brandy Hayes, uncle, Larry Sandles (Melvin Jean), first cousin, Helen Jones, first cousin, Dorothy Edwards ("Aunt Dorothy"), Honorary brother and sister, Jerry Robertson and Demarius Washington, Mason brothers, and a host of relatives and friends.
D received his high school diploma from South Oak Cliff High School in 1985 graduating with Honors.
