Isaac Davenport was born on October 30, 1941, in Monroe, Louisiana, to the late Nathaniel Davenport Sr. and Mamie Lee Thompson Davenport. He was educated in the Monroe public school system and graduated from Carroll High School in 1959. He later relocated to Dallas, Texas, where he made his lifelong home.

At an early age, Isaac accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. His faith remained an important part of his life. He enjoyed attending church with his parents, praying, and reading the Word of God.

Isaac possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. He established Gulf Service Station, which was later renamed I & J Service Station. He proudly operated the business for many years until its closing. Isaac later began working for Hilti, where he remained a faithful and dedicated employee until his retirement.

Isaac was a kindhearted and encouraging man who never hesitated to offer an uplifting word. He never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and respected. He believed in speaking well of others and will always be remembered for his warm spirit, positive nature, and the kindness he extended to everyone he encountered.

On August 10, 2026, Isaac peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Nathaniel Davenport Sr. and Mamie Lee Thompson Davenport; his brothers, Nathaniel Davenport Jr., Roy Lee Davenport, George Davenport, and Robert Earl Davenport; and his sister-in-law, Judy Davenport.

Isaac leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Carolyn Davenport; his daughter, Serina (Trenton) Griffin; his son, Kenneth Davenport; his bonus children, Toby Johnson, Jarmond Johnson, Nicole, and Victor; his grandchildren, Donte Griffin, Donterrian Griffin, Trenton Griffin Jr., Shakia Dorsey, Spencer Dorsey, Lunden Johnson, Keithlin Garrett, and Isiah Green Anjalena Brown; great grandchild Aa'Riyah Brown, his brothers, Vernon Davenport and Alex Davenport; his sisters, Mamiedale McWilliams, Ruthie (Ernest) Johnson, Nadine (Melvin) Robinson, and Bobbie Davenport; his sisters-in-law, Linda Adams Davenport, Dianne Davenport, Patricia Davenport, and Rose Davenport; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Isaac’s encouraging words, generous heart, and welcoming spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
