A Tribute of Love

for

Mother Irma "Love" Barrett

Irma Love Barrett was born on April 18, 1942 in Daingerfield, Texas (Morris County) to the parentage of Willie Onnie and Arvella Fridia. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age guided by her parents at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cason, TX. After moving to Dallas, she united with Liberty Baptist Church. She later became a member of Whole Armour Fellowship, under the pastorage of (Pastor E.B. Jr and Lady Shyrl D. Scroggins). She expressed her undying love for the Lord and believed his words in the 23rd Psalms, that "the Lord is her Shepherd." She continued there until her health declined and required her to be housed in Crestview Court. Although she experienced chronic illnesses and limited mobility, she had weekly personal visits with her daughters that included prayers and scripture readings along with weekly prayers from the Whole Armour Church Family.

She received her formal education in Morris County, after moving to Dallas she graduated from James Madison High School.

She met and united in Holy Matrimony to Andrew Lee Barrett whom preceded her in death and to the union six daughters were born, her eldest (Donna) also preceded her in death.

Irma Love was a very talented seamstress, sewing many outfits for her daughters during their childhood. In addition to her sewing skills, she was a remarkable cook, having mastered numerous recipes. Her love for her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends was evident, and she cherished every moment spent with them, Irma was truly adored by many. With her witty personality and delightful sense of humor, she brought joy to those around her. She had a great fashion sense, as she loved beautiful clothing and jewelry. Irma took great pride in her appearance, always keeping her nails long, manicured and polished to complement her gorgeous look. When you visited her, and she admired your outfit, she would tell you and request one like it.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: 5 daughters Felecia (John), Lady Shyrl D. Scroggins (Pastor E.B. Jr.), Shonda, Delphanie and Andrea; special friends Ralph Pugh, Jr. and Roderick Wheeler; 12 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, 2 brothers, Willie (Mildred), Howard (Murrell), both of Desoto, Texas, 2 sisters, Geraldine Fridia of Duncanville, Texas, Clemmie Ruth Fridia of Dallas, Texas; special sister in law, Connie Barrett of Silsbee, Texas and special friend, Anita Rollins and a host of other relatives and friends.
