Obituary

Imani Pamoja (Elizabeth Ann Malone) received a trumpet call to return beyond the celestial clouds to her heavenly abode on Jan 17, 2018. Born Feb. 3, 1947 to Aaron Joshua Polk Smith Malone and Carrie Elizabeth Malone. She is survived by her children Hisani, Aisha, Naeemah (Aaron) Riley of Dallas, TX, Jamila (Jerel) Harris of Covington, GA, Awali (Youlanda)Thomas, and Jabari of Dallas, TX. Proceeded by her siblings Joe Walter Nobles, Carolyn Williams, Caron Carter, Eleanor Jean Richardson and was predeceased by Gabe Nobles and Joshua Aaron Malone; her grandchildren Sehnewka, Totteanna, Haniyah, Ameera, Aaron, Amelia, KingShyru, Jeryll, JustinPaul, Justus, Johnathan, Quinton, James, and Egypt; as well as her great grandchildren Taleigha, Samuel, Makayla, Elijah, Jakai, Caleb, and Jacob. Diligent graduate of Lincoln High School and Bishop College, she was a double major of Biology and English with a minor in Political Science. She was an outstanding educator, celebrated for her civic involvement which began in the 70's with the Black Arts Movement, the Peace Movement, and the African Liberation Movement. She championed in her career as a teacher at Government and Law Magnet, Business Management Center, T.W. Browne, Liberal Arts Academy of Lincoln High School, and El Centro College. Pamoja extended herself teaching workshops at the African American Museum and South Dallas Cultural Center. Recognized as a peacemaker filled with compassion toward all, she inspired young people to write and investigate their heritage so they may know thyself. She was also a prestigious author of poetry, short stories, and children's books.Honored for (D.I.S.D.) 'Outstanding Teacher of the year,' 'Outstanding service to the Lincoln Athletic Department,' 'Outstanding Achievement in Poetry by the International Society of Poets.'
